"I'll Be Around" is a song featured in Frank Sinatra's 1955 album In the Wee Small Hours.

History[]

"I'll Be Around" was written by Alec Wilder in 1942. In an interview with Jay Nordlinger, Wilder claimed that the song came to him while in a taxi cab during his time in Baltimore. After some time, he formulated the melody of the song which only took 20 minutes to perform. However, Wilder stated the lyric for the song took much longer to write.[1]

Lyrics[]

I'll be around,
No matter how
You treat me now
I'll be around from now on.

Your latest love
Can never last,
And when its past,
I'll be around when he's gone

Good-bye old friend,
And if you find a love like mine
Just now and then,
Drop me a line to say that you're fine

And when things go wrong
Perhaps you'll see
You're meant for me
So I'll be around when he's gone.

Good-bye old friend,
And if you find a love like mine
Just now and then,
Drop me a line to say that you're fine

And when things go wrong
Perhaps you'll see
You're meant for me
So I'll be around when he's gone.
